"Done in a Day" projects are one-day projects that are designed to meet a specific community need that may vary in nature. There are many worthwhile causes and organizations in the Concho Valley that do not need the support of an on-going project, but rather just a day of our volunteers' time to help with a single event or to address a specific short term need. This opportunity to get a project "done in a day" allows members to provide meaningful services without a long-term commitment.
Done in a Day: 2016-2017
September: DIAD will be working with the young men at West Texas Boys Ranch to teach classic cooking skills with nutritional ingredients. It is our goal to impact tomorrow's youth by instilling these healthy choices in them today.
October: DIAD will be painting the side of the Sonrisas office building. Having started Sonrisas as a legacy project it's important to us to help when it is needed. We look forward to getting our hands dirty and leaving our mark on the new location of Sonrisas. We will also be participating in National Night Out to help bring the community together. We will host a carnival game for our location in hopes of brightening the evening for children in that neighborhood.
November: DIAD will be hosting our 3rd Annual "Warmth for the Winter" in which we purchase coats and give to children in need. We are looking at various organizations with this need in hopes of spreading these coats across the community to impact for families. We will also be serving in the Wesley Soup Kitchen and hosting a clothing drive for the Forgotten Angels Tree to ensure that all the forgotten angels receive clothing under their Christmas trees.
December: DIAD will be serving as volunteers for Concho Christmas and partnering with the Salvation Army to serve as volunteers for the Forgotten Angels by picking items to give to these children for Christmas.
