Local art group gets creative piece by piece

SAN ANGELO, Texas - Members of the Junior League of San Angelo were on hand Saturday to help with the placing of tiles for a mosaic pickup, an ongoing project by Art in Uncommon Places, a local artist group.

The Día de los Muertos-themed mosaic is one of seven eventual pieces that will be installed along the Concho River between Bell and Magdalen streets.

The project started five years ago with the completion of a mosaic 1967 Volkswagen that is on display near the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. The group, with the help of volunteers and community supporters, hopes to have the rest of the mosaic cars in place by this summer.
